Wheel Weaving Stand
An aluminum lacing jig that holds your hub centered and level while you thread spokes into the rim — supports thru axle and quick release, fits 16" through 700C.
What a Wheel Weaving Stand Actually Does
Building a wheel from a bare hub, rim, and loose spokes starts with getting the hub held steady and centered inside the rim before you can thread a single spoke through. Trying to do this in your hands or braced against a table means the hub constantly shifts as you work, making it easy to cross spokes incorrectly or lose your lacing pattern halfway through.
This stand solves that first stage: it clamps the rim in place via three adjustable brackets and suspends the hub on a center rod, so both stay properly aligned while you focus entirely on getting the spoke pattern right.
ℹ️ This Is a Lacing Stand, Not a Truing Stand
A wheel weaving stand gets the hub and rim positioned correctly to lace the spokes — it doesn't dish or true the finished wheel. Once lacing is complete, you'll still need a separate truing stand to fine-tune spoke tension, lateral trueness, and dish before the wheel is actually ride-ready.
How It's Built
| Hub Mounting Rod | The center shaft the hub sits on, keeping it aligned with the rim above. |
| Height Adjustment Column & Retaining Ring | Sets the hub's vertical position relative to the rim, with a scale printed directly on the column for repeatable settings. |
| Rim Brackets (x3) | Adjustable arms with bearing rollers that grip the rim at three evenly spaced points, each with a printed size scale for quick, matched adjustment. |
| Locking Knobs | Fold, unfold, and lock each arm and the height column in place once you've dialed in your settings. |
Supports Quick Release and Thru Axle Hubs
Quick release hubs mount directly onto the center rod with no extra hardware. Thru axle hubs need the included thru axle retainer bar fitted first, since their wider, non-tapered axle interface won't center correctly on the rod alone. Check which hub type you're building before you start — using the wrong setup is the most common reason the hub ends up sitting off-center.
Setting the Center Height
Getting the hub at the correct height relative to the rim uses a simple formula printed right on the stand: h = (a−b)/2 − d, where a is your hub's overall width (flange to flange), b is your rim's internal width, and d is an offset that depends on your hub type:
| Quick Release Hub | d = 0 |
| Thru Axle Hub (c=12) | d = 5 |
| Thru Axle Hub (c=15) | d = 10 |
| Thru Axle Hub (c=20) | d = 15 |
"c" refers to your thru axle's diameter in mm. Once you've calculated h, dial the height adjustment column to that scale reading and lock it with the retaining ring.
Matched Rim Bracket Scale
Each of the three rim brackets carries the same printed size scale, marked out to common rim sizes from 700C down to 15". Set all three brackets to your wheel's size, lock the knobs clockwise, and the rim sits centered without needing to measure or eyeball each arm individually.
Folds Down for Storage
Two knobs on either side of the height column fold the rim brackets flat against the frame when you're done — the stand collapses from a 71cm working diameter down to roughly 40.5cm folded, so it doesn't need to live permanently set up on a bench.
Specifications
| Material | Aluminum |
| Weight | Approx. 2900g (excluding packaging) |
| Wheelset Sizes | 16 / 20 / 22 / 24 / 26 / 27.5 / 29" & 700C |
| Hub Compatibility | Thru Axle & Quick Release |
| Expanded / Folded Diameter | 71cm / 40.5cm |
| Package Size | 450 x 436 x 148mm |
💡 Pro Tip
Double-check your height calculation against a physical measurement before locking everything down — hub and rim dimensions vary enough between models that trusting spec sheets alone can leave you a few millimeters off, which is easier to catch before you've laced 20+ spokes than after.
